JV of Ormat and Sacyr win bid for 5 MW geothermal pilot plant in Bolivia
As announced by Bolivian energy utility ENDE, the consortium of Ormat International and Sacyr have won the tender for the 5 MW pilot plant of the Laguna Colorada geothermal power project in the Andes of Bolivia.
Reported last week, Bolivian energy utility ENDE has awarded the contract for the construction of a 5 MW pilot plant for its 100 MW Laguna Colorada geothermal power project in the Andes.
The project was tendered out last year and later it was announced that two groups were bidding for the plant.
The groups included a cooperation between Italian Exergy and EPC company Clemessy, as well as another group of Sacyr and Ormat Technologies. We reported on last year.
Through the release of a Scope of Works, also published by BN Americas, it is now announced that the consortium of Sacyr and Ormat won the tender. The share in the bid is: Ormat International Inc. – 50%, Sacyr Industrial Bolivia SIB S.R.L – 40%, and Sacyr Industrial SL 10%.
The Scope of work includes details on engineering, equipments and materials, construction and erection from electromechanical system, commissioning and startup.
The project now won by the consortium is for a 5 MW pilot plant at a cost of around USD 18 million.
The area is rather remote and at an elevation of 5,000 meters above sea level.
